Collaboration

Collaboration lies at the heart of much of our work at the Forum for Community Solutions. It’s not just a value we hold, but it’s a conscious practice we put into place across all our initiatives and projects.

Multi-Sector Partnerships

Multi-Sector partnerships are a critical part of complex community collaborations, and the Forum for Community Solutions promotes their use and uses them as a tool to increase the impact and effectiveness of collaborations. For example, the work we do with the Collective Impact Forum underscores our commitment to building multi-sector partnerships through the role of collective impact. We co-convene with FSG the Collective Impact Forum, which brings together an online community for those practicing collective impact to find the tools, resources, and support they need.

Likewise, we support many kinds of multi-sector partnerships specifically working on young adult education and employment issues in the opportunity youth movement. These include:

  • The Opportunity Youth Forum
  • Opportunity Youth United
  • The Opportunity Youth Network

Funder Collaboration

While we focus directly on community members and community-led institutions seeking to make change happen, we also focus on the philanthropic community, and seek to support improvements in philanthropic approaches to collaborating with community.

For example, we work with the Neighborhood Funders Group to develop learning opportunities and programming for funders designed explicitly to improve the effectiveness of place-based grantmaking. In the work we do in two other large scale collaborations, the Collective Impact Forum, and the Opportunity Youth Forum, we pull together funders interested in these areas to help improve their practice and understanding of the issues. Visit our Funder Collaboration page for more on these initiatives.
