The Southern Maine Youth Transition Network

The Southern Maine Youth Transition Network has leveraged and aligned funding and ideas to support new and expanded strategies supporting opportunity youth across Southern Maine.

SMYTN has changed state level legislation affecting pathways of youth in foster care, run a successful community of practice for providers working with youth, and designed and implemented new programming to support opportunity youth in achieving education and employment success.

New pathways include our innovative youth-centered summer employment program implemented through our local WIOA provider, as well as Maine Learn and Earn to Achieve Potential, which supports systems involved youth across the state in connecting with additional customized support in their journeys into continuing education and careers.

SMYTN currently takes on targeted collaborative work, focusing on particular subpopulations or issue areas within Southern Maine such as high school completion in Greater Portland.

Areas of Collaborative Focus: K12 Education/Reengagement; Postsecondary education; Workforce.
