Opportunity Youth Forum Partner Information:
Opportunity Youth Collaborative: Newark Opportunity Youth Network
Backbones/Lead Organizations: YouthBuild Newark Inc.
The Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN) is focused on changing the systems in Newark that inhibit the success of opportunity youth. In Essex County, there are approximately 15,000 opportunity youth, and more than half are in the city of Newark.
By establishing exceptional educational programs, opportunity youth are harnessing their intelligence and charting their own path toward success. Through our partnerships in Newark, we’re working to dissolve barriers to post-secondary success and we’re challenging institutions to rethink their campus culture with opportunity youth in mind.
NOYN is also engaging community voices and legislative minds to advocate for public policies that foster the success of opportunity youth. One of our main collaborative projects is geared toward youth workforce development and expanding career opportunities, including wraparound support for young people as they transition from the classroom to the workforce.
Areas of Collaborative Focus: K12 Education/Reengagement; Postsecondary education; Workforce.
