Supporting Postsecondary Education Pathways for Rural Tribal Communities: Challenges and Opportunities

report
Native American and Indigenous youth continue to face myriad challenges in accessing and succeeding in postsecondary education, including systemic inequities, historical injustices, and socioeconomic factors.
Despite these challenges, promising opportunities exist to strengthen the postsecondary and workforce pipeline for Indigenous youth. Through a multifaceted approach that addresses systemic barriers, incorporates culturally responsive practices, and provides tailored support systems, tribal communities, higher education, philanthropy, and other key stakeholders can work together to ensure equitable access to and success in higher education and meaningful employment for Indigenous youth.
In this new report, Supporting Postsecondary Education Pathways for Rural Tribal Communities: Challenges and Opportunities, Dr. Nichole Prescott creates a comprehensive landscape analysis, outlining how postsecondary pathways can be improved, providing examples of best practices in programming, and incorporating the voices of Indigenous youth.
